Callière,
Governor of Montréal from 1684 to 1698 and Governor of New France
from 1699 to 1703, was the driving force behind the Montréal Conference.
This huge event brought together representatives of nearly forty aboriginal nations in August 1701 and led to the signing of the Great Peace of Montréal. |
