The Fleur de lis tour

By following the Fleur-de-Lys tour route, parents and children can join together and set their own pace as they discover archaeological remains and artefacts at the Museum that were witness to the French period. Keep your eyes peeled and follow the fleurs-de-lis!

Amid all the hustle and bustle of Pointe-à-Callière's 18th Century Public Market, come meet and speak to the archaeologists working with Pointe-à-Callière's Archaeological Field School. They will tell you about the history of Montréal's birthplace, as well as about the discoveries made during the most recent digs.

Budding Archaeologists

Also as part of Pointe-à-Callière’s 18th-century Public Market, the Budding Archaeologists activity, intended for younger children, offers a unique opportunity to learn a little more about the archaeology profession. In the Museum's discovery space, children take part in a simulated archaeological dig led by an archaeologist interpreter-guide. Their mission is to unearth remains linked to different periods of Montréal's past.

Montréal, a fortified town
August 19, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Did you know that Montréal was a fortified city??On this walking tour, you will discover the urban landscape of 18th century Montréal. The stone walls, around 6 metres high, covered an area of 3.4 km and surrounded the city, which at that time was made up of large institutional buildings landscaped with walled gardens, as well as some 400 houses built between 1720 and 1780. Archaeologists await you along this unique route on which you will discover evocative remains of the era.

Interpreted Tours « Where Montréal Was Born »
Once upon a time there was a town – founded on a point of land between the St. Lawrence and a smaller river – that grew and flourished around its public square… Learn about this wonderful story in Pointe-à-Callière’s permanent exhibition, featuring authentic remains and artefacts, intriguing multimedia displays, and new interactive models. An interpretive tour that takes you along an unusual underground route !

From Monday to Friday : 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
